Job Title: Childcare Attendant
Job Duties: The Child Care Attendant is responsible for the care of infants and pre-school children and will work as part of a team of employees and volunteers. Help set up the nursery or pre-school room every day and prepare for the whole day’s activities. Maintain daily open communication with parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors and related issues. Maintain a safe and healthy environment, clean the toys, change the diapers, clean all spills and maintain the area with a high level of sanitation and appeal to the eye. In order to attain this objective the Childcare attendant must clean up the nursery room, toilets, disposing of all trash, diapers, etc. and sanitize toys and materials used by children. Perform housekeeping duties such as laundry, cleaning, dishwashing and changing of linens. Assist in preparing food and serving meals and refreshment to children. Must assist and train the toddlers the proper way of eating and assist them in using the lavatory. Must strictly follow the hand washing policy required for the children; Childcare attendant must teach the children a good hygiene by assisting and teaching them the proper way of washing their hands before and after eating and before handling food , after using the bathroom , after contact with body secretions like urine, etc. and after outdoor play. Caregivers must be prompt to response to an infant or toddler’s physical and emotional needs, ie, feeding, diapering, holding, touching and eye contact. The childcare attendant must also promote appropriate physical activities including exercise, health development and nutrition appropriate to their age for physical development. Childcare attendants in the pre-school area will be responsible for play and Bible lesson in addition to care and nurture. Engage the children in creative play, songs, stories, and provide a happy wholesome experience and to make sure that the variety of toys, songs & activities the children in care are engaged in are appropriate to their ages. Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials or toys and maintain a safe play environment and observe and monitor children’s play activities. Perform some administrative tasks such as taking attendance and writing necessary reports. Maintain confidentiality.

Qualification Requirements: Childcare attendants must be qualified through education, training, experience, and personal qualities for the age group which the person works. All childcare staffs must annually participate in at least 15 hours of training as approved and monitored by the Childcare Licensing Program. Must be at least 18 years old and above. Must submit a police clearance and pass a background criminal investigation check. Childcare attendants must be of reputable and responsible character and shall not have a criminal history record, employment history or background which poses a risk to children in care. The childcare attendant must submit a proof that she is free of health problems. Childcare attendant must undergo a Physical Exam and submit a valid health permit and food handler certificate. Must be alert and must know the quickest and safest exits in case of emergency. Understanding of basic first aid, including child/infant CPR training is a must. At least College level. Teaching experience preferred, but not mandatory. Willing to use curriculum, sing and do crafts with children as part of their activities. Bilingual with an excellent command of English and Chinese/Mandarin as deemed necessary when communicating with the parents. Preferably with at least 1 or more years-related experience as a childcare attendant or related occupation. Must have the Physical function ability to lift, carry, push, pull and bend at waist when assisting the children. Perform other related duties as needed.
