Job Title: Research Assistant I (Two Positions) - Limited Term Appointment
Job Duties: Nature of the Position: This position is in the Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Service department on the island of Saipan, and is funded through a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture-Agriculture and Food Research Initiative. The research assistant will work in the Children’s Healthy Living Program (CHL). The mission of CHL is to elevate the capacity to build and sustain a healthy food and physical environment to help maintain healthy weight and prevent obesity among young children in the Pacific region. Duties and Responsibilities: • Participates in program review and outcomes assessment (PROA) activities. • Provides high-quality student and internal and external customer service. • Enters confidential research data into databases, excel spreadsheets and online databases; • Scans confidential documents, forms and records; • Interprets handwritten food and activity logs according to ridged guidelines; • Maintains input/entry records and daily production logs daily; • Submits monthly reports; • Files and stores both paper and electronic documents, forms, records and logs; • Assists with maintaining and distributing delicate anthropometric equipment; • Routinely inventories supplies and equipment; • Collects research quality data on preselected community attributes and features; • Conducts surveys according to strict protocols and procedures; • Assists with creating, conducting and inputting questionnaires; • Performs routine office functions; • Occasional travel to off-site locations; • Occasional work outside of normal office hours; there will be periods of time wherein working evenings, nights, and odd-hours will be required; • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: • HS + 15 college level credits from a U.S. Department of Education recognized accredited institution. Required Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: • Capability to comprehend and correctly interpret manuals, written instructions and other documentation • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a variety of settings with listeners of diverse educational backgrounds • Proven ability to perform all required tasks unsupervised • Recognized capability to work closely and cooperatively Proficient with personal computers, including without limitation all Microsoft Office applications. • Ability to travel independently • Valid CNMI driver’s license. Desired Qualifications • Experience with Human Subjects applications and requirements. • Experience with data entry and data collection. • Office work experience • Knowledge of local food preparation • Awareness of governmental and academic institutional laws, regulations and policies • Desire to become well-informed in principles, practices and techniques related to nutrition, public health and individuals’ well-being;
