| Job Duties: | Prepares and plasters masonry & concrete surface.Lay and aligns bricks, or tiles to build or repair structures. Applies & smoothes mortar or other mixtures over work surface and removes excess, using trowels & hand tools.Examines brickworks or structure to determine need for repair. measure distance from reference points& mark guideline to lay out work, using plumb bobs and levels, calculates angles and courses and determines vertical and horizontal alignment of courses. Mixes specified amount of sand, clay dirt, or mortar powder with warm water to form refractory mixtures. Fastens or fuses brick or other building materials to structures with wire clamps, anchor, holes, torch, or cement. breaks or cut bricks, tiles, or block to use, using edge or trowel, hammer, or power saw. Cleans working surface to remove scale, dust, soot or chips, of brick and mortar, using broom, wire brush or scraper. Spray or spread refractory material over brickwork to protect against deterioration. |
