Job Duties: | Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Plant Service Center Supervisor, the Plant Service Center Specialist performs preventive maintenance activity by ensuring that the Trouble Analysis Center (TAC) has downloaded detected faults from the network switching equipment Diagnostic List. The Specialist views and tests the list daily to identify potential company tickets, which are then manually created. The Specialist also receives and analyzes subscriber complaints, tests and resolves where possible, and dispatches unresolved trouble tickets and service orders to Inside/Outside Plant or other technical personnel for resolution and completion; monitors field staff and clears all trouble tickets to ensure all appointments and commitments are met. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Employee will perform the following essential functions: 1. Know and uphold the established IT&E Mission, policies and procedures, relevant provisions of the union agreement, Corporate and Department objectives, quality assurance and safety programs and standards. 2. View Diagnostic Advisory Report and test daily to comparing Report data against established criteria to identify potential company tickets which will be manually created. 3. Review and coordinate the Exception File by adding new exceptions or deleting existing exceptions which retest with different results or which test clear. 4. Review and interpret the diagnostic advisory test results identifying potential patterns. 5. Update and correct trouble reports and service orders when required. 6. Perform routine maintenance and measurements of central office to ensure working condition of power, batteries, dial tone, generator equipment and associated alarms. 7. Use a variety of test equipment to isolate, identify and analyze equipment trouble and take appropriate maintenance action. 8. Respond to emergency services-affecting situations; assist in isolation of network and loop subscriber problems and DSL problems. 9. Use a variety of test equipment to isolate, identify and analyze equipment trouble and take appropriate maintenance action. 10. Schedule all calls for Cable Locate. 11. Reports repair results weekly to Manager, Customer Care. 12. Cross-train other staff in various aspects of this position to prepare them to fill in as needed. 13. Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned or required. |
