Job Duties: | Job Summary: The Systems Specialist is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, troubleshooting and installation of personal computers (PC), network, server and telecommunications equipment. The incumbent will apply solutions to resolve technical problems reported by customers and end users, both internal staff and Company clients, through the phone and direct interface. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Employee will: 1. Install and maintain PCs and related network hardware and software: a. Install operating system b. Install Microsoft and other software’s per user department’s specifications c. Install/set-up printers d. Set up mail account e. Install data cables f. Perform user data migration and backup 2. Troubleshoot and repair PC hardware and reinstall software. 3. Assists the IT staff in network systems and system resource management. 4. Program Cisco switches with port security when installing a PC or moving one within the network. (Port-security- allows only the Mac-address locked to the port to work on the network.) 5. Install, maintain and troubleshoot TOPS stations. 6. Assist in the installation of DSLAM (DSL Access Multiplex) erequipment; run data cables; program DSLAM equipment, including configuring Uplink and Management access to Cisco Routers. 7. Respond to inquiries and requests for technical assistance within the organization in a timely manner. 8. Provides Customer Helpdesk Technical Support on telephone and at customer site. a. Answer telephone calls and assist in trouble shooting and resolving hardware/software problems. b. Perform installation of internet services like Dial-up, DSL and Routers. c. Assist in processing service order request from existing or new account; activate order request and post or route service order to proper staging for completion. d. When needed perform site visit for residential or small/major businesses to install or trouble shoot internet related issues. e. Assist walk-in customers; trouble shoot and resolve a variety of PC/software problems. 9. Assist in client-installation of internet products such as DSL, Dial-up, and e-mail; assist in processing monthly disconnection and reconnection of internet service, as assigned. 10. Maintain inventory of hardware and software equipment and parts. 11. Perform tape backup procedures. 12. Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned or required. |
