Job Title: Head Cook
Job Duties: Responsible for Asian or Western cuisine. Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safety and sanitary food-handling practices. Turn or stir food to ensure even cooking. Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience. Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils. Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment using various kitchen utensils and equipment. Portion, arrange and garnish food and serve food to waiters or patrons. Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters. Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods. Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods. Wash, peel, cut and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption. Perform other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma Required? Undetermined
Qualification Requirements: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent plus two (2) years work experience as a cook in a restaurant or hotel. Preferably with experience in (Western, Japanese and Chinese cuisine). Must be energetic with an excellent track record in hospitality and who thrives in a fast-paced service environment. Must have strong team work skills. Must be willing to work shifts, holidays and weekends. Final interview may include a skill test. The position requires examination and clearance for Food Handlers Certificate before hire. Food Handlers Certificate must be valid at all time during employment.
