Job Title: ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN, SENIOR
Job Duties: Performs specialized support and routine technical activities related to engineering and water system operations. As assigned, serves as a lead worker making work assignments and monitoring the completion of work by others. May be required to do a set of or all of the following tasks: Utilizes Computer Aided Design and other technical systems, prepares plans, profiles, sketches, as-built drawings and reports in accordance with established standards. Conducts field survey work; collects data and assists in providing staking sheets including cost, materials and labor estimates for services or projects; monitors and verifies project materials used and adherence with specifications. Performs project and site works inspections; reviews and reports water outage information and water production data; analyzes and reports damaged equipment information; works with contractor and manufacturers regarding warranty coverage. Conducts construction of sanitation facilities of medium to large scale of ordinary to complex systems; Conducts field inventories of equipment and maintains data related to inventory; prepares requisition vouchers for approval; recommends procurement of required materials; tracks procurement documents. Provides customer assistance and troubleshooting of issues which may include: water pressure research; addressing concerns related to encroachment and right-of-way; verifying application status; and restoring water service. Conducts research and verifies information for customers and project engineers. Analyzes data and documentation; creates and maintains system information in databases; prepares activity reports for management. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Qualification Requirements: Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology or directly related field and five years of general engineering support experience and construction oversight; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Knowledge of: Applicable Federal, Commonwealth and local laws, codes, regulations and/or ordinances; Engineering and construction principles, methods, practices, and techniques; Surveying methods and techniques; Engineering planning, specification, and drawing methods and techniques; Mathematical concepts; Applicable equipment, controls and systems of assigned area of responsibility; construction methods, water system operations, and troubleshooting; Customer service principles; Safety principles and practices; Data collection techniques; Modern office technology. Skill In: Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards; Prioritizing, assigning and monitoring the completion of work by others; Reading and interpreting plans, specifications, maps and related technical documentation; Performing inspections, survey work and collecting and reporting related data; Researching, troubleshooting and problem solving; Providing critical thinking in analyzing and developing solutions; Conducting and monitoring field inventories and equipment; Providing customer assistance; Researching service or project status and providing feedback; Performing mathematical calculations and estimating resources and costs; Preparing technical reports, drawings and related documents used in assigned area of responsibility; Applying safe work practices; Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications; Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
