Job Title: Medical Case Manager/Underwriter
Job Duties: This is a highly responsible and complex professional work in medical case management, utilization review and underwriting. Case Management work involves a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination, evaluation, and advocacy for options and services to meet an individual’s and family’s comprehensive health needs through communication and available resources to promote quality, cost-effective outcomes. Medical underwriting work involves the screening, collection and analysis of medical or health information in the evaluation of an applicant for health insurance coverage. The typical work schedule is 40 hours per week plus Saturday duties from 9am to 1pm. This position reports to the Director of Medical Care Management and UM-Informed Choice/Quality Assurance Manager.
Qualification Requirements: Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to: • Doctorate Degree in Medicine or a current RN License (may be foreign equivalent) or post-graduate degree in medicine; plus • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in medical case management and underwriting; and • Proficiency in Milliman Care Guidelines (MCG) / Medical Society Guidelines.
