Job Title: General Maintenance Worker
Job Duties: Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; boiler making; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, Golf equipment, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs. Breakdown of various duties and responsibilities: 1) Mason: Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters, patch voids, and use saws to cut expansion joints. 2) Carpentry: Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood such as concrete forms, building frameworks, including partitions, joists, (cont’d of General Maintenance Worker) studding and rafters; and wood stairways, window and door frames, and hardwood floors. May also install cabinets, siding, drywall and batt or roll insulation, includes brattice builders who build doors or brattices (ventilation walls or partitions) in underground passageways. 3) Power plant Operators: Monitor power plant equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems. Adjust controls to generate specified electrical power or to regulate the flow of power between generating stations and substations. Control power generating equipment, including boilers, turbines, generators, or reactors, using control boards or semi-automatic equipment. Regulate equipment operations and conditions, such as water levels, based on instrument data or from computers. Take regulatory action, based on readings from charts, meters and gauges, at established intervals. Start or stop generators, auxiliary pumping equipment, turbines, or other power plant equipment as necessary inspect records or log book entries or communicate with plant personnel to assess equipment operating status. Control maintain auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, fans, compressors, feed water heaters, filters, or chlorinators, to supply water, fuel, lubricants, air, or auxiliary power. Clean, lubricate , or maintain equipment, such as, generators, turbines, pumps, or compressors, to prevent failure or deterioration . Communicate with systems operators to regulate and coordinate line voltages and transmission loads and frequencies. 4) Welder: Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations or seams of fabricated metal products. 5) Machinery Maintenance: Lubricate machinery, change parts, routine machine inspection, test maintain machines and other related duties assigned. 6) Automobile Mechanic: Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices. Examine vehicles to determine extend of damage or malfunctions. Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes. Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined. including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas. Confer with customers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems, and to discuss work to be performed and future repair requirements. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and tune-ups. repair and service air conditioning, heating, engine-cooling, and electrical systems. Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers' performance specifications. Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors. Tear down, repair and rebuild faulty assemblies such as power systems, steering systems and linkages.
Qualification Requirements: Requirements: High School Graduate with one to two years experience. Experience in related fields. Golf equipments (Mower Machine, Blower, Trimmer, Brush Cutter) helpful. A/C and plumbing helpful.
