Job Duties: | Under the direct supervision of the Drinking Water & Wastewater Division Manager or his/her designee, this position demonstrates confidence as a crew leader to include both assigning and monitoring work, while providing technical direction. Prepares training information and materials for an assigned technical training program for trades staff. Performs skilled level operations, installations and/or repairs in service areas assigned. Assists in the design and development of technical systems for upgrades, new installations, and asset identification for lift stations, operating wells, booster stations, PRV’s, VFD’s and SCADA systems. Can inspect equipment and determine if any repairs are needed to power, electric, and mechanical systems. Performs preventative maintenance in service areas assigned. Maintains sufficient levels of supplies and equipment. Can operate reservoirs and distribution valves; Monitors storage tank reservoir levels and water hydraulic levels; Maintains water wells, booster stations and reservoir stations; Capable of responding to customer complaints; Installing, maintaining and repairing water lines; Monitoring chlorine gas in the water system; Maintaining and repairing motors, pumps, VFD’s, electrical controls and other related equipment; Gathering water samples; Installing and/or replacing water meters; Performing disconnects and reconnects; Bleeding fire hydrants; Preparing daily progress reports. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as required. |

Qualification Requirements: | High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program Adult School Diploma (AS) and 3 years’ of skilled or certification based experience related to area of assignment. College education is preferred but not required. Knowledge of: Customer service principles; Basic mathematical concepts; Safety procedures and safe work practices; design parameters on lift station and well system operations. Modern office technology. Skills in: Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards; Performing skilled maintenance, operations, electrical and mechanical repair work in assigned areas; Reviewing quality levels and providing technical guidance in assigned area; Operating specialized and heavy equipment; Monitoring specialized equipment (VFD’s, SCADA) and making adjustments to controls and sensors; Performing inspections and identifying issues; Capable of troubleshooting a variety of electrical, mechanical and operational issues and recommending or implementing solutions; Receiving requests and trouble calls and providing assistance; Monitoring inventory and supplies; Initiating supply requests; Taking equipment readings and maintaining reading data; Preparing and updating activity logs and status reports; Capable of writing reports, analysis, and scopes of work; Skilled in the use of a computer and relevant software applications; Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Licensing/Certification: Valid U.S. Driver’s License with appropriate class; Trades Licenses and/or Certifications, based on assignment; Water/Wastewater Treatment and Distribution Certifications, based on assignment. |
