Job Title: | Utility Coordinator (Maintenance Supervisor) |
Job Duties: | Under the direct supervision of the Chief Engineer, Water and Wastewater or his/her designee. May assist supervising engineering field staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, assisting with making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. As assigned, may assist with managing daily activities and maintenance of assigned engineering field operations; overseeing the scheduling, production, maintenance and/or provision of utility services to include water and wastewater. As assigned, oversees utility service processes, procedures and techniques; monitors operations and material handling and addresses issues or potential hazards; ensures safety procedure compliance and enforces policies and procedures. Receives and responds to customer issues, complaints and/or emergency situations; troubleshoots and identifies issues, initiates responses, and implements resolutions. Prepares a variety of utility service operational status and budget reports; gathers and organizes data; prepares and provides informational and compliance reporting. Monitors and tracks assigned budget; reviews and inspects equipment and supply needs; orders and maintains adequate supply of required parts and materials. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. |

Qualification Requirements: | High School Diploma or GED or ABE, and college degree preferred with three to five years of directly related experience in a water and wastewater utility, CNMI driver’s license or one from another U.S. jurisdiction. Knowledge of: Supervisory principles; Principles and procedures of water/wastewater systems; Inspection and troubleshooting principles; Preventative maintenance principles; Applicable codes, laws, rules and regulations; Inventory control principles; Mathematics, and an understanding of engineering techniques and design principles. Skills in: Monitoring and evaluating staff; Prioritizing and assigning work to staff; Preparing daily schedules; Assisting in preparing budgets; Preparing cost and materials estimates; Performing preventative maintenance; Implementing and following project management principles and practices; Performing journey level maintenance and installations; Performing site inspections and recognizing problem areas; Using computers and related software applications; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convert information and to receive work direction.
