Job Duties: | Job Summary: The Business IT Specialist is responsible for providing technical support to the IT&E telecommunications and networking systems, planning, analyzing, recommending and supporting company’s computer systems and networks, including, but not limited to, operating systems, Web Interfaces and API, MIND Billing System, and other types of software; provides assistance to client staff on difficult problems; encompass some degree of testing pre-production environments; write SQL queries. The Business Support Systems Administrator participates in the design and planning of infrastructure to support new applications and technologies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Employee will: 1. Know and uphold the established IT&E Mission, policies and procedures, IT&E and Department objectives, quality assurance and safety programs and standards. 2. Perform data analysis and database management for Oracle systems including applications upgrades 3. Design scripts and develop tools to automate periodic task and improve monitoring of system. 4. Work on multiple technology enhancement projects, reporting to project Team Lead. 5. Research and evaluate innovative technology solutions, collaborating with teams to determine feasibility of deployment. 6. Perform analysis and make recommendations regarding application servers and network related equipment and software. 7. Configure, install and administer workstations, servers and network hardware and software. 8. Defines and provides user access levels to applications to MIND Billing Systems. 9. Analyze server and network activity and maintain performance monitoring systems as well as other software programs. 10. Apply thorough professional knowledge and complex process in the wide area data network architecture, Web Interfaces and other Application Programming Interfaces (API) developing and implementing for the enterprise Intranet environments. 11. Research and evaluate innovative technology solutions, collaborating with teams to determine feasibility of deployment. 12. Provide database support services for critical computer applications 13. Provide backup for Internet system, MIND billing system maintenance and support. 14. Work on assigned team projects as needed. 15. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualification Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent experience. Work Experience: four or more years of experience performing Systems administration. Knowledge of Windows/Linux/SQL and Oracle jobs, along with automation. Preference given to those with SQL Query background and PL/SQL and reporting skills. Linux/Solaris Admin knowledge is an additional preferred asset. Licensure/Certification/Professional Association: Certification: None Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of: a. Telecommunications standards and practices b. Computer systems, computer hardware and software applications. c. Network and client/server with a detailed understanding which includes Network Routing Protocols, Network Services such as IP Voice/Video, DNS, Firewall policies, proxy and cache servers, and mail servers. d. Prepaid and Postpaid Billing systems e. Basic principles and practices of office administration, communications and customer service etiquette f. Windows/Linux Oracle, MSSQL/MySQL, Advanced Excel, MS Visual Basic for Application jobs and automation g. Basic tenets of good telephone etiquette 2. Skills in: a. SQL programming, SQL Query, PL/SQL, MS Access, Advanced Excel, MS Visual Basic for Applications and Reporting b. Managing one's own time c. Analyzing performance results to determine methods of improving service d. Preparing written reports, inventories, statistics and analyses e. Using personal computer hardware and Microsoft software programs f. Efficiently managing material resources g. Troubleshooting difficult hardware and software problems h. Use of personal computer hardware and Microsoft software programs i. Basic customer service skills 3. Ability to: a. Communicate clearly, concisely and accurately with all levels of staff and customers, both verbally, over the phone and in person, and in writing b. Multi-task and prioritize responsibilities c. Work on an after-hours, on-call rotation schedule d. Perform in a self-directed, hard-working, creative and forward thinking manner e. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments f. Make logical and sound decisions in the resolution of difficult situations |
