Job Duties: | DUTIES: Under the direct supervision of the Power Generation Manager or his/her designee. Provide lead technical supervision to trades staff and other subordinates. This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department. Primary duties are as a TRADES FOREPERSON: MECHANICAL in a diesel engine power plant. Performs the journey level maintenance and/or operational activities; Coordinate and assign daily activities/work; Compiling data and preparing regulatory reports; Operate and maintain complex instrumentation, equipment and/or testing equipment; Troubleshooting complex maintenance and operational problems; Supervise other Trades staff including assisting in the performance evaluations and coordinating training; Ensures that employees follow policies and procedures and maintain a healthy and safe working environment; Prepare schedule of activities or special projects and ensures necessary parts, materials and tools are available; Provides technical advice, support and guidance to staff, other CUC department and other agencies; Performs technical design on electrical system; Performs inventory and supply checks of tools, equipment, parts and materials; Identifies resource needs and processes requisitions. Ensures availability of resources to meet project and operational needs; Gathers and compiles data’s, prepares and maintains regulatory and status reporting; Performs inspections of projects and operations; Ensures policies and procedures are adhered to, and that service quality and productivity levels are maintained; Attends to trouble calls after normal hours; Practices SAFETY; Cleans, organizes and maintains work areas; Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. |

Qualification Requirements: | MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduate from a Vocational/Technical Institution as a Mechanic. High School Diploma or General Education Diploma or Adult Basic Education. Must demonstrate having had: 5 years of journey level experience are in a diesel engine power plant. 5 years of journey level experience are to be performing Mechanical duties. At least one (1) of the five (5) years must include leading a crew. Knowledge of: Applicable Federal, Commonwealth and local laws, codes, regulations and/or ordinances; Principles, practices and procedures of assigned service area. Customer service principles; Mathematical concepts; Inventory maintenance practices; Inspection procedures; Safety procedures and safe work practices; Modern office technology. Skill in: Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards. Supervising, monitoring, training and evaluating staff. Performing and overseeing skilled journey level maintenance, operations and installation. Performing inspections of projects and operations to ensure quality and productivity levels. Ensuring the adherence to policies and procedures. Troubleshooting complex maintenance and operational issues. Recommending and implementing solutions. Providing technical advice, support and guidance to staff, other CUC department and other agencies. Processing requisitions to meet resource needs for projects and operations. Performing technical design on electrical system. Gathering and compiling data. Preparing and maintaining regulatory and status reports and related documentation. Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications. Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
