Job Duties: 1. In charge of the deck department and is responsible for the discipline of all officers and hands belonging to his department. 2. Arrange the security and safety plan for passengers, periodically checking the security facilities 3.organize all crew members in the training of lifesaving and firefighting, instructing deck general workers to give safety instructions to passengers. 4. Perform regular repair and maintenance on deck. Conduct regular inspections on safety equipment and life appliances. 5.Take command of the ship as acting master in the event of the master being unable to attend to his duty for a certain reason. 6. Instruct deck workers to manage car embarkation and disembarkation.7. Control the embarkation and disembarkation of passenger.8. Pay attention to the steadliness of anchors, liferafts and all movable objects on deck when the ship is underway and in the event of there being gale warnings, inspect them personally, urge and supervise the crew to lash them down and have them well protected by every possible means; 9. Give directions at the forecastle whilst the ship is entering or departing a pier, shifting or being moored and, in the meanwhile, report progress and the surroundings about the stem to the master. 10. Keep on watch in earnest and, with the highest sense of responsibility , ensure the safe navigation of the ship when she is underway as well as in anchorage.11. Check and keep deck log books in accuracy with great carefulness and highest sense of responsibility.

Qualification Requirements: 1.Two years work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required. 2.High school diploma or equivalent, 3.Considerable knowledge of and skill in keeping the stability of anchors, lifeboats, vehicles and all movable objects on deck when the ferry is underway; considerable knowledge of relevant agency policies and procedures; 4. Considerable knowledge of SOLAS regulations and ISM. 5.Valid First Aid/CPR Certification 6.Certificate of competency to operate or navigate type of passenger carrying vessel in accordance with STCW. 7. Approved training in crisis management and human behavior as stated in STCW Code section A-V/2, paragraph 5.

Comments: (1) EMPLOYMENT DURATION & LOCATION This job opportunity is for a temporary, full-time position on shift basis. Work will be performed in the roll on and roll off passenger ship Sand Diamond between Tinian and Saipan without travel requirements. (2) WORK HOURS Employees hired under this announcement will work on full time employment forty (40) hours per week. Work hours start from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM Monday to Sunday. (3)THREE-FOURTHS GUARANTEE Workers will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual fist date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. (4) TRANSPORTATION AND SUBSISTENCE If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will provide, reimburse, or advance payment for the worker’s transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or w here the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except w here the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or w here the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. (5) ON-THE-JOB-TRAINING AVAILABLE Workers will be provided with on-the-job training to perform the duties assigned.
