Job Title: Ship Chief Engineer
Job Duties: 1. Be responsible for the operation and maintenance of as well as the repairs to the ferry's main and auxiliary engines, boilers, steering gear, windless, refrigerating plants, deck machines, electrical equipment and etc.2. Take responsibilities of keeping serious watches in engine and put the operation of the machinery in to normality. 3. Ensure that the ship's safety equipment of various kinds, such as appliances for extinguishing fire, emergency lock-up devices, safety rafts, fire alarms, indicator lamps etc.4. Supervise the consumption of fuels, lubricants; make requisitions for stores, spares, tool etc.5. Keep all items in safe custody, check up them and make reports on their consumption each day.6. Take charge of the overhaul and upkeep of all the electrical equipment.7. Check up the insulation and resistance of all electrical equipment at regular intervals.8. Examine the condition of all safety lights, alarms, emergency generator regularly and all electrical appliance. 9. Keep all technical data and be responsible for the requisition for electrical materials.

Qualification Requirements: Two years work-related skill, knowledge, or experience on the specified engines is required. High school diploma or equivalent, considerable knowledge of operation and maintenance of marine engines, transmissions and propelling machinery; knowledge of contracts relevant to ferry maintenance and repairs; knowledge of marine motors. Certificate of competency in accordance with STCW. Approved training in passenger safety, cargo safety and hull integrity in accordance with STCW code. Approved training in crisis management and human behavior as stated in STCW Code. Valid First Aid/CPR Certification. Must meet "fit for duty" requirements upon job offer.

Comments: JVA Comments: (1) EMPLOYMENT DURATION & LOCATION This job opportunity is for a temporary, full-time position on shift basis. Work will be performed in the roll on and roll off passenger ship Sand Diamond between Tinian and Saipan without travel requirements. (2) WORK HOURS Employees hired under this announcement will work on full time employment forty (40) hours per week. Work hours start from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM Monday to Sunday. (3)THREE-FOURTHS GUARANTEE Workers will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual fist date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. (4) TRANSPORTATION AND SUBSISTENCE If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will provide, reimburse, or advance payment for the worker’s transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or w here the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except w here the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or w here the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. (5) ON-THE-JOB-TRAINING AVAILABLE Workers will be provided with on-the-job training to perform the duties assigned.
