Job Title: Civil Technician
Job Duties: Assists with aspects of civil engineering related projects, including coordinating between design disciplines and management, schedule management, and cost and document control. Applies theory and principles of civil engineering in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of structures and facilities under the direction of the civil engineering staff. Reviews technical documents to plan work. Analyzes proposed site factors and designs maps, graphs, tracings, and diagrams to illustrate findings. Reviews project blueprints and civil specifications to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements. Calculates dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications, and material quantities. Inspects facilities or sites to determine if they meet specifications or standards. Creates graphical representations of civil structures. Drafts detailed dimensional drawings and designs layouts in conformance with project specifications. Confers with supervisor to determine project details such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions. Conducts materials test and analysis using tools and equipment and applying engineering knowledge. Develops plans and estimates costs for construction of structures, installation of systems, and/or utilization of facilities. Prepares project budgets by estimating the cost of project activities. Prepares reports and documents project activities and data. Inspects project site and evaluates contractor work to detect design malfunctions and ensures conformance to design specifications and applicable codes. Confers with other personnel to resolve design or operational problems. Travels to all villages of Saipan, NMI to perform work for Employer.

Qualification Requirements: Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field (may be foreign equivalent), 24 months of experience as a Civil Engineering Technician or Civil Engineer, and 6 months of experience using AutoCAD Civil. Verification of qualifications required.

Comments: The job opportunity is a temporary, full-time position commencing on October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021. The job opportunity requires the worker to travel, in an Employer provided vehicle, to Employer's project sites in all villages in the MSA of Saipan. Workdays will be Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. THREE-FOURTHS GUARANTEE: Worker will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. TRANSPORTATION AND SUBSISTENCE: If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will provide, reimburse, or advance payment for the worker's transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker's voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.
