Job Title: | Certified Ophthalmic Assistant |
Job Duties: | • Perform ophthalmic tests, measure visual acuity, collect ophthalmic measurements, take anatomical or functional ocular measurements • Document patients' medical histories, calculate corrections for refractive errors, measure and record lens power, conduct visual field tests, perform slit lamp biomicroscopy procedures • Measure corneal and retinal nerve thickness, measure corneal curvature, photograph patients' eye areas, using clinical photography techniques • Conduct ocular motility tests to measure function of eye muscles, conduct Amsler Grid test, perform fluorescein angiography of the eye, assess abnormalities of color vision, instruct patients in the care and use of contact lenses • Assist physicians in performing ophthalmic procedures, including surgery, clean or sterilize ophthalmic or surgical instruments • Responsible for training and supervising eye care technicians • Monitor clinical staff scheduling and management of patient care responsibilities • Other duties as assigned. |

Qualification Requirements: | High School/GED required. Must have a certification by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel (JCAHPO) in Ophthalmology at the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) level. Two (2) years experience and broad knowledge with assisting physicians with ophthalmic procedures. |
