Job Title: Database Administrator
Job Duties: Job Summary: The Database Administrator is responsible for overseeing and managing the Oracle systems and training others in using Oracle; provide substantial Oracle 12c, Oracle 11g and Oracle 10g support skills toward overall Oracle production and non-production database activities including installation, configuration, upgrade, performance, tuning, backups and DR, regular maintenance jobs, encryption and troubleshooting; encompass some degree of testing in pre-production environments; require participation in a Production DBA after-hours on-call rotation schedule; upgrade from several levels of back versions of Oracle. Strategize, collaborate, and participate in various monitoring, performance, and analysis tasks with the goal of performance optimizations and retention of the corresponding historical monitoring metrics and statistics; review SQL queries written by software developers for performance enhancement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Employee will: 1. Know and uphold the established IT&E Mission, policies and procedures, IT&E and Department objectives, quality assurance and safety programs and standards. 2. Oversee data analysis and database management for Oracle systems including applications upgrades 3. Develop database structure, implement applications, enhance system and ensure security. 4. Design scripts and develop tools to automate periodic task and improve monitoring of system. 5. Work on multiple technology enhancement projects, reporting to project Team Lead. 6. Manage business continuity efforts with oversight for backup and recovery of data. 7. Author database documentation and guidelines to help support system operations. 8. Provide after hour maintenance, coordinate with consultants and manage vendors for patches and upgrades. 9. Create and maintain data dictionaries, physical databases and logical database models. 10. Take on initiatives to enhance information systems and optimize performance tuning. 11. Research and evaluate innovative technology solutions, collaborating with teams to determine feasibility of deployment. Key Responsibilities 1. Provide substantial Oracle 12c, Oracle 11g and Oracle 10g support skills toward overall Oracle production and non-production database support activities including installations, configurations, upgrades, performance, tuning, backups and DR, regular maintenance jobs, encryption and troubleshooting. 2. Encompass some degree of testing in pre-production environments. Participate in a Production DBA after-hours on-call rotation schedule. This job will require the ability to upgrade from several levels of back versions of Oracle. Linux/Solaris Admin knowledge is an additional preferred asset. 3. The successful Production Oracle DBA candidate should also be able to strategize, collaborate, and participate in various monitoring, performance, and analysis tasks with the goal of performance optimizations and retention of the corresponding historical monitoring metrics and statistics. 4. As part of performance improvements, the Oracle DBA will also review SQL queries written by software developers for performance enhancements.

Qualification Requirements: Minimum Qualification Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or related field, or a combination of completion of a technical certificate program and equivalent additional work experience Work Experience: four years experience performing Oracle Database administration. Extensive working knowledge of Windows/Linux Oracle jobs, along with automation. Preference given to those with SQL Query background and PL/SQL and reporting skills. Linux/Solaris Admin knowledge is an additional preferred asset.
