Job Title: Staff Civil Engineer
Job Duties: Design • Review, interpret and redline other staff engineer or surveyor rough sketches or plans to create and edit drawings as part of quality assurance of company engineering work product • Creates site development plans, site grading plans, sections with surfaces and 3D modeling for planning and analysis, water, storm water, and sanitary sewer systems, drainage and storm water control features such as detention ponds, routing ponds, etc. • Design road and utility alignment - water sections, topographic site plans, existing and proposed grade profiles and complex cross sections with road tapers and super elevations. • Conduct planning, study, design and analysis of water, sanitary wastewater, and storm water collection, conveyance, and transmission and distribution systems and develop plans and specifications for the same systems. • Conduct value engineering. • Prepare and review drawings and documents to assure compliance with federal standards and federal and local regulatory requirements for the design and construction of various civil infrastructure facilities. Project and Construction Management • Estimating the time and costs of completing projects • Directing subordinate engineering technicians or staff for specific project(s). • Assist project managers or principals with administration of design and construction projects • Assist project managers or principals with review of design projects for constructability and quality assurance. • Assist project managers or principals with managing work of engineering design technicians on project activities. • Interpret and explain technical construction and design information to engineering design technicians and other engineering design team members. • Report on project progress and budget matters to the project managers, licensed civil or principal engineers. • Assist project managers, licensed civil or principal engineers with analyzing and evaluating contractor claims, change orders, payments, labor and safety issues and report to licensed civil or principal engineer. • Represent licensed civil engineers or principal engineers in meetings with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, or architectural or engineering firms. • Assists senior project managers or principal engineers as required such as observation of construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents. • May serve as onsite project representative.

Qualification Requirements: • Experience of 3 or 4 years in planning, design, project management and construction management of civil engineering projects • Demonstrated ability to apply federal standards and regulatory requirements for the design and construction of various infrastructure facilities. This includes, but not limited to, knowledge, familiarity and application of FHWA/AASHTO/FAA/EPA/NFPA/ASTM 3. Proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Strom and Sanitary Analysts (SSA) Software, Pipe-Flo Professional, MS Office, MS Projects, Prolog Manager & Converge. • Familiarity with Carlson Civil Suite is a plus but not required. • The candidate must be ready to assume work assignments to bring projects from conception to completion of design and take it to completion of construction by performing project management and construction management, respectively. • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering • Masters Degree preferred but not required
