Job Duties: | Advises the School President, Principal and Board of Directors of private school (kindergarten to twelfth grade) on short-term and long-term financial objectives, financial planning and preparing the school’s annual budget. Prepares, examines and analyzes accounting records, financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards (including preparation of financial reports for the Board of Directors). Prepares financial position forecast and monthly reports on the status of the collection of tuition fees; oversees the school’s tuition management system and assists, as needed, in the collection of delinquent tuition. Evaluates and examines the financial controls to ensure system reliability and minimization of risk/exposure. Develop, implement, modify and document record-keeping and accounting system, making use of current computer technology. Oversees preparation of school’s payroll; computes taxes owed and prepares tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements. Coordinates with the outside auditing firm in the preparation of the school’s annual audit reports and prepares schedules as needed (25% of time). Advises the School President in areas such as compensation, employees health care benefits, the design of accounting or data processing systems and long-range tax plans. Oversees procure of curriculum and instructional materials and assessment resources; attends and participates in leadership meetings, professional development meetings and school board meetings. Ensures compliance with financial reporting and other regulatory requirements; oversees school property and liability insurance requirement; conducts audits of transactions related to contracts, purchase orders and other financial transactions to ensure adequate documentation and substantiation prior to settlement. Plans and coordinates of complex financial operations; analyzes budgets, and prepares periodic reports that compare budget to actual costs. Provides training to assigned school staff on the Quickbooks, Filemaker Pro and Renweb software thereby allowing cross trained personnel to assist with the daily activities of the Business Office. Provides advice to School President on financial investments of any surplus funds; and review terms for financial investment loans and other transaction. |
