Job Duties: | Describe tour points of interest and respond to questions from Chinese tourist customers. Escort Chinese tourist customers in groups including pick up and drop off from/to the Saipan International Airport, on cruises, sightseeing tours or through places of interest on land or water such as popular tour sites, including weekly, annual and special events and activities in the CNMI such as the Thursday Night market, Saturday Sabalu Market, Annual Taste of Marianas International Food Festival & Beer Garden, Flame Tree Arts Festivals, Village Fiesta, Fishing Derby, Annual Marianas Beer & Barbeque Festival, Annual Sports Festivals - Saipan Marathon, Saipan Ocean Swim, Tagaman Triathlon, Escape to Managaha. Monitor visitors activities to ensure compliance with government or tour regulations and safety practices such as safety, driving and road regulations in the CNMI for customers that will rent motor vehicle and jet ski for water sports. Provide directions and other pertinent information regarding the CNMI such as historical and popular sites and important landmarks to visitors and tourists from China. Distribute brochures, show audiovisual presentations and explain establishment processes and operations upon arrival at the meeting or briefing room and tour sites to Chinese tourist customers. Research various topics, including site history and environmental conditions to plan appropriate travel routes, instruction, commentary and accurate answers to questions from Chinese tourist customers. Select travel routes and sites to be visited based on knowledge of specific areas in Saipan, Tinian and Rota, CNMI that are interesting to or regularly requested by tourists and customers particularly locations and events promoted by the Marianas Visitors Authority (MVA), the CNMI government agency tasked to promote the CNMI to visitors, tourists and the global tourism industry. Safely drive company vans and motor vehicles to transport customers to establishments and tour site locations including checklist of inspection prior to operating the motor vehicle and reporting any deficiencies to the General Manager or Operations Manager and recommend repair or maintenance. Collect fees and tickets from group Chinese tourist customers for their entrance to tour sites or water vessels including additional packages for meals and activities and such other charges and fees availed or purchased by the customers. Assemble and check the required supplies and equipment prior to departures such as brochures, promotional materials, mobile phone and/or radio, bottled water, checklist and detailed itinerary of customers. Provide for physical safety of tour groups, performing such activities as providing first aid or directing emergency evacuation, communicating with company officers and the safety and health officer. Solicit tour patronage by promoting and selling optional tours and activities/services including souvenir and promotional items. |

Qualification Requirements: | High School Diploma or GED. Must have two (2) years prior work experience as a Tour Guide. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Tour Guide Certification from the Marianas Visitor's Authority (MVA). Must be able to drive tourists safely through various tour routes. Must be able to obtain a CNMI drivers license that will be applied equally to both U.S. workers and CW-1 workers. Must be able and willing to work shifts, nights, graveyards, holidays, and weekends. The ability to speak fluently in both the English and Chinese languages to communicate with Chinese tourist customers is not a requirement but is highly advantageous. |

Comments: | The job opportunity is a temporary, full-time position commencing on July 1, 2023 to September 30, 2023. THREE-FOURTHS GUARANTEE: Workers will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. TRANSPORTATION AND SUBSISTENCE: If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will provide, reimburse, or advance payment for the worker's transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker's voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.
