Job Title: PERFECT BINDER OPERATOR
Job Duties: -Set up binding and finishing machines; -Operate binding machines, such as coil binders, thermal or tape binders, plastic comb binders or specialty binders; -Set up and operate machines that perform binding operations, such as pressing, folding or trimming; -Set up and operate glue machines by filling glue reservoirs, turning switches to activate heating elements, or adjusting glue flow or conveyor speed; -Lubricate, clean or make minor repairs to machine parts to keep machines in working condition; -Install or adjust bindery machine devices, such as knives, guides, rollers, rounding forms, creasing rams, or clamps, to accommodate sheets, signatures, or books of specified sizes; -Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or to determine whether adjustments are needed; -Perform highly skilled hand finishing binding operations, such as grooving or lettering; -Imprint or emboss lettering, designs, or numbers on book covers, using gold, silver or colored foil, and stamping machine; -Examine stitched, collated, bound, or unbound product samples for defects, such as imperfect bindings, ink spots, torn pages, loose pages, or loose or uncut threads; -Cut cover material to specified dimensions, fitting and gluing materials to binder boards by hand or machine; -Cut binder boards to specified dimensions, using board shears, hand cutters or cutting machine; -Bind new books, using hand tools such as bone folders, knives, hammers or brass binding tools; -Read work orders to determine instructions and specifications for machine set-up; -Trim edges of books to size, using cutting machines, book trimming machines or hand cutters; -Stitch or glue endpapers, bindings, backings, or signatures, using sewing machines, glue machines, or glue and brushes; -Form book bodies by folding and sewing printed sheets to form signatures and assembling signatures in numerical order; Design original or special bindings for limited editions or other custom binding projects; -Maintain records such as daily production records, using specified forms.
High School Diploma Required? Yes
Qualification Requirements: High school diploma; 12 months of work experience in finishing and bindery operation; Can operate various type of binding and finishing machine and other related equipment in production of printed materials; Set-up and able to perform minor repairs and maintain the machines; Understand the production processes and raw materials used, quality control, costs and other technique for maximizing the effective production of printed products; Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials; Must be able to perform minor repairs, adjusting and testing machines, devices, moving parts and equipment, and maintain mechanical equipment; Must have valid driver's license to operate company service vehicles to deliver printed materials. This requirement will be applied equally to both U.S. workers and CW1 workers.

Comments: The job opportunity is TEMPORARY, FULL TIME. THREE-FOURTHS GUARANTEE: Worker will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. INBOUND/OUTBOUND TRANSPORTATION and SUBSISTENCE to the work while travelling from employees origin to the place of employment, as well as provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment.
