Job Title: Dive Guide (SOC code 39-9032 Receration Workers)
Job Duties: Organize, accompany, and guide company's recreational scuba diving customers. Assess hazards of a dive site and informing customers of the hazards. Brief diving customers on the layout and points of interest of a dive site. Check diving customers into and out of the water from a boat or shore entry point. Lead a group or individual diving customers in the water as a tour guide. Consult, discuss, and communicate with diving customers prior to their visit, to assess their needs and interests, by e-mail (company standard, due to inquiry/reservation system established on company’s website). May assist diving customers at the retail sports shop run by company. May assist scuba diving instructors in conducting training programs and activities for certified divers. Do other related duties.
High School Diploma Required? Yes
Qualification Requirements: Minimum 6 months of training on a license course for Dive Master or higher, and 1 year of experience as a Dive Guide or Scuba Diving Instructor of a dive shop; Must be a licensed Dive Master or Scuba Diving Instructor, certified by PADI/NAUI/SSI or equivalent authority. The license requirement is applied equally to all workers, U.S. and foreign. Preferable to have scuba dive experience and knowledge in diving spots in Saipan. Must be able to speak, read and write Japanese, enough to guide, assess, inform and communicate with tourists and regulars from Japan, which dominate the nationality of company customers.

Fringe Benefits: Compensations: Workers’ Compensation and health insurance provided by employer. Three-Fourths Guarantee: Workers will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. Transportation and Subsistence Provided: If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will provide, reimburse, or advance payment for the worker’s transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.
