Job Duties: | Operates crane to lift, move, and place large and heavy materials vertically and horizontally. Review work orders and schedules to determine sequence of operations and special loading instructions. Weighs materials to determine load weight and ensure compliance with lifting specifications. Conducts inspection of crane mechanism and lifting components to ensure parts are in working order. Signals and directs truck drivers to properly back vehicles into loading or unloading bay and direct helpers to place blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy materials. Moves levers, depresses buttons and foot pedals, and turns dials to operate and control the speed/direction of crane movement. Works within set standards of accuracy and precision. Must be able to lift heavy loads with additional counterweight on the rear of the crane. Adjusts crane mechanisms or lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions or damage. Inspects cables or grappling devices for wear and install or replace cables, as needed. Cleans, lubricates, and maintains mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, or grappling devices, making repairs as necessary. Provides report of work operations by completing relevant paperwork. |
