Job Title: | NEWS REPORTER |
Job Duties: | Report and write stories for publication describing the background and details of events; Write commentaries, columns or scripts, using computers; Examine news items of local, national, and international significance to determine topics to address, or obtain assignments; Receive assignments or evaluate leads and tips to develop story ideas; Research a story’s background information to provide complete and accurate information; Arrange interviews with people who can provide information about a particular story; Gather information and develop perspectives about news subjects through research, interviews, observation and experience; Select material most pertinent to presentation, and organize this material into appropriate formats; Present news stories, and introduce in-depth videotaped segments or live transmissions from on-the-scene reporters; Establish and maintain relationships with individuals who are credible sources of information; Revise work to meet editorial approval or to fit time or space requirements; Review and evaluate notes taken about news events to isolate pertinent facts and details; Investigate breaking news developments such as disasters, crimes or human interest stories; Review written, audio, or video copy, and correct errors in content, grammar or punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines; Report on specialized fields such as medicine, green technology, environmental issues, science, politics, sports, arts, consumer affairs, business, religion, crime or education; Determine a published story’s emphasis, length and format, organizing material accordingly; Check reference materials, such as books, news files, or public records, to obtain relevant facts; Discuss issues with editors to establish priorities or positions; Photograph or videotape news events; Take pictures or video, and process them for inclusion in a story; Conduct taped or filmed interviews or narratives; Develop ideas or material for columns or commentaries by analyzing and interpreting news, current issues, or personal experience; Communicate ideas or material for columns or commentaries by analyzing and interpreting news, current issues, or personal experiences; Communicate with readers, viewers, advertisers, or the general public; Write online blog entries that address news developments or offer additional information, opinions, or commentary on news events. |

Qualification Requirements: | Bachelor's degree on related field; 48 months of work experience as news reporter; Must have skill in writing, "with a nose for news" (i.e., ability to find newsworthy materials from routine or day-to-day occurrences); Ability to meet submission deadline; Computer skills; Knowledge with all forms of multimedia; Knowledge of news photography; With valid CNMI driver's license, and this is applied both to U.S. and foreign workers. |

Comments: | The job opportunity is TEMPORARY, FULL TIME. THREE-FOURTHS GUARANTEE: Worker will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. INBOUND/OUTBOUND TRANSPORTATION and SUBSISTENCE to the work while traveling from employees origin to the place of employment, as well as provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment.
