Job Title: | Clinical Laboratory Scientist |
Job Duties: | Perform all laboratory testing of patient specimens as defined in policies and procedures, and as designated and scheduled, including but not limited to: Operation of laboratory instruments, troubleshoot malfunctions; appropriate documentations of all testing and instrument activities; maintaining laboratory supply inventory; participate and assist in educational and training activities. As required, participate in all Quality Assurance activities of the laboratory. Analyze and records Quality Control on all test procedures per individual methodology protocol. Document QC results and actions taken, if any, in the appropriate logbook. Perform data collection and review for laboratory testing, as designated. Perform phlebotomy procedures on patients, handles and processes all specimens for laboratory testing appropriately. Communicate with Laboratory Manager, Supervisor and co-workers of any potential problems or complications with patient specimens and/or laboratory instruments. Follows assigned schedules to perform work duties in all designated areas of the laboratory and hospital. Follow schedule and emergency coverage to perform work duties, as assigned, for all shifts of laboratory operations (1st, 2nd, 3rd, weekdays and weekends). Review, record and release patient results in accordance with established protocol. Assist the Laboratory Manager and Supervisor in performing oversight and review activities in the laboratory. Perform other related duties as assigned. |

Qualification Requirements: | Licensed by the CNMI Health Care Professions Licensing Board (HCPLB) as Clinical Laboratory Technologist, meeting all necessary requirements with appropriate documents. Possess current license to practice laboratory medicine ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent such as AMT (American Medical Technologists), HHS (Health and Human Services), which will be equally applied to both the U.S. and foreign workers, and have at least one the following: U.S. Associates Degree in a Laboratory or Biological Science with the minimum hours of coursework and training required to perform laboratory testing, as defined by CLIA requirements; OR Associates degree graduate of a foreign Medical Technology Program and meets all education and training, as defined by CLIA requirements. Applicants with degrees from foreign institutions must have an evaluation of their credentials to determine the equivalency of their education to an education obtained in the United States (U.S). The equivalency evaluations should be on a course-by-course basis and may be performed by a nationally recognized organization. Clinical Laboratory Scientist licensed by the AMT or HHS may be exempt from the two-year degree due to licensing requirements prior to 1998. Applicants must have two years recent and applicable clinical laboratory experience. |
