| Job Duties: | 1. Promotes and protects the optimal health status of schoolage children 2. Provides health assessments: a. Obtains a health history b. Observes the child for development and health patterns in making nursing assessment. c. Identifies abnormal health findings. 3. Develops and implements a student health plan a. Interprets the health status of students to parents and school personnel. b. Provides ongoing health counseling with students, parents, school personnel or health agencies. c. Most importantly, utilizes existing health resources to provide appropriate care of students. 4. Maintains, evaluates, and interprets cumulative health data to accommodate individual needs of students 5. Implements school health management protocols 6. Develops procedures and provides for emergency nursing management for injuries/illnesses 7. Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases. 8. Provides health education and anticipatory guidance a. Provides direct health education, and health counseling to assist students and families in making decisions on health and lifestyles that affect health. b. Participates in health education directly and indirectly for the improvement of health by teaching persons to become more assertive health consumers and to assume greater responsibility for their own health. c. Serves as a resource person to the school staff members in health instruction. 9. Acts as a resource person in promoting health careers. 10. Engages in research and evaluation of school health services to act as a change agent for school health programs and school nursing practices. 11. Provides consultation in the formation of health policies, goals and objectives for the school district. 12. Where applicable, participates in the IEP plan development. |

| Qualification Requirements: | Employer Preference: -GRADUATE OF BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN NURSING -HAS KNOWLEDGE OF ITERS AND ECERS ASSESMENTS -KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE CREATIVE CURRICULUM -PREFERABLY WITH 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A NURSE IN AN EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER -CERTIFIED WITH INFANT AND ADULT CPR FROM RED CROSS -EXPERIENCED IN DEALING WITH CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES -EXPERIENCED ON HOW TO FEED CHILDREN WITH FEEDING TUBE -HAS ATTENDED WORKSHOPS REGARDING CHILDREN WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS -ATTENDED TRAININGS REGARDING EARLYCHILDHOOS CURRICULUM OR PROGRAMS.
