| Job Duties: | Assist lawyers by researching legal precedent, investigating facts, or preparing legal documents. Conduct research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action. Prepare legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, and real estate closing statements.Prepare affidavits or other documents, maintain document file, and file pleadings with court clerk.Gather and analyze research data, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, and documents.Investigate facts and law of cases to determine causes of action and to prepare cases.Call upon witnesses to testify at hearing.Direct and coordinate law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas. Arbitrate disputes between parties and assist in real estate closing process. Keep and monitor legal volumes to ensure that law library is up-to-date. Appraise and inventory real and personal property for estate planning.Prepares draft legal contracts, deeds, leases, and other legal papers of a routine nature. Locates relevant statutes, rulings, and precedents to be used as a basis for answering request for legal opinions of a routine nature or limited scope.Performs preliminary work in the preparation of legal opinions. Assists int he preparation of cases and hearings of a routine nature. conducts factual investigations of a limited scope. Prepares correspondence and pleadings related tot he work. Updates legal publications and participates in the work associated with a law library. Prepares case notes, head notes and index entries describing agency's final decision and orders. Assists with the preparation of proposals for decision, final orders, and other decisional documents resulting from quasi-judicial hearings. Reviews compaints and prepares preliminary assessments of validity. Reviews administrative licensing case files and drafts notices of non-compliance, complaints, and settlements agreements. Assists with preparing responses to questions regarding agency administration of regulatory and other law.Prepares reports, gathers information and draft audit letters in preparation to company's year end audit. Monitors and coordinates payment of legal invoices/billings Provides word processing support to the department and completing various duties as assigned including screening of incoming mails, responding where appropriate, which may include memoranda and correspondence. Process internet databases and computer software packages that are specifically designed for legal research and electronic case filing. Process courts' pleadings using the legal terminology/courts' procedures and Case Management/Electronic Case Filing systems though LexisNexis and PACER accounts. |

| Qualification Requirements: | Title Job Zone Three: Medium Preparation Needed Overall Experience Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required for these occupations.
