| Job Duties: | Manage crews of skilled and unskilled workers at construction sites. Responsible for the efficient use of labor, machines, and materials by their crews. Report to site superintendents, who are responsible for the efficiency of all the crews on a construction job. Plan and schedule work and keep records of the materials used and the progress made on a job. Also report on such things as personnel, costs, and safety. Must see that safety rules are followed. Also communicate company rules and policies to the workers. Must be familiar with union contracts and procedures. Must be able to read blueprints and plans. And advise qualified craft workers on the best way to handle certain tasks. Oversee the training of newly hired laborers. Must be experts in their crafts. And able to give clear directions and see that they are followed. also be able to communicate well with their bosses, who may be superintendents or contractors. |
