| Job Duties: | Cut shot sequences to different angles at specific points in scenes, making each individual cut as fluid and seamless as possible. Study scripts to become familiar with production concepts and requirements. Edit films and videotapes to insert music, dialogue, and sound effects, to arrange films into sequences, and to correct errors, using editing equipment. Select and combine the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story. Mark frames where a particular shot or piece of sound is to begin or end. Determine the specific audio and visual effects and music necessary to complete films. Verify key numbers and time codes on materials. Organize and string together raw footage into continuous whole according to scripts or the instructions of directors and producers. Review assembled films or edited videotapes on screens or monitors to determine if corrections are necessary. And may be assigned to other related duties in the newsroom. |

| Qualification Requirements: | ER Preference: A minimum of 1 or 2 years of work related skill, knowledge and experience in filming, film editing, and related experience in activities of writers, directors, managers, and other personnel throughout the news production process including filming and editing news programs and other televised work such as commercials and advertisements. Knowledge of the structure and the content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Knowledge of media production and communication. Knowledge of business and management principles are very helpful. O-Net: Title Job Zone Three: Medium Preparation Needed Overall Experience Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required for these occupations. For example, an electrician must have completed three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training, and often must have passed a licensing exam, in order to perform the job.
