| Job Duties: | Provides high-quality student and internal and external customer service and provides leadership to the Division of Student Services for PROA and accreditation activities. * Counsel students regarding educational issues such as course and program selection, class scheduling, school adjustment, truancy, study habits, and career planning. * Counsel individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational or vocational situations. * Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations. * Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, other counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral, academic, and other problems. * Provide crisis intervention to students when difficult situations occur at schools. * Identify cases involving domestic abuse or other family problems affecting students' development. * Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs. * Prepare students for later educational experiences by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks. * Encourage students or parents to seek additional assistance from mental health professionals when necessary. * Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. l Introduce the College Access Challenge Grant Program and the services available to eligible CACGP students. l Collaborate and establish partnerships with the public school systems high and middle school counselors to encourage students from low-income families to enter college. l Provide counseling and guidance to prepare middle/high school students for college-level courses, required application for admission into colleges, identify and apply for available financial aid programs to support college costs, and encourage student enrollment in the summer enrichment camp as an introduction to college life and how to navigate the rigors of college. l Provides advocacy and other support services to CACGP students in their first year of college. l Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating academic workshops/seminars on topics to assist CACGP students enroll, persist, and succeed in college. (Topics may include but not be limited to: goal setting, college success, college entrance examinations, and other relevant topics.) l Schedule and facilitate life skills workshops/seminars on stress management, time and money management, self-esteem, note-taking and study skills, and other related topics. l Identify external community partners and/or community services providers and arrange presentations about available programs and services accessible to CACGP students. l Provide guidance and supervise CACGP tutors/ambassadors. l Coordinate academic tutorial services and workshops. l Assist the CACGP Program Manager and consult with internal and external partners to develop an Annual Work plan CACGP. l Assist the CACGP Program Manager and collaborate with internal and external CACGP partners to plan, coordinate, and facilitate presentations and any outreach activities, including college info sessions, financial aid workshops, career fairs, summer enrichment program, etc. l Recruit low-income public high school juniors and seniors and first year college students from underserved/unserved minority population, preferably Native Pacific Islanders, to participate in CACGP sponsored activities and services. l Conduct intake and assessment of CACGP students to determine eligibility based on federal requirements. l Work one-on-one with CACGP student to develop a CACGP Plan of Service that will assist student to complete his/her chosen certificate and/or degree plan. l Establish and maintain individual CACGP student file. l Track, monitor, and assess a CACGP student academic progress and performance through periodic meetings with student, and if needed, with academic advisors and instructors. l Conduct regular on-site visits to partner high and middle public schools to promote and market the CACGP Program and refer students to CACGP Program. l Assist the CACGP Program Manager and monitor progress of implementation of the activities in the CACGP annual work plan. l Work closely with middle/high school counselors to assist students and their families complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Assist the CACGP Program Manager to collect data for reporting requirement. l Attend all professional development activities sponsored by the CACGP and the College. l Perform other duties as assigned. |

| Qualification Requirements: | Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. Department of Education recognized accredited institution and at least two (2) years of work experience working with middle/high school and/or college students or other areas that provide direct services to students and low-income families in such capacity as a counselor, instructor or advisor. Desired Qualifications: l Strong working knowledge of outreach principles in higher education. l Strong organizational skills and familiarity with retention strategies among low-income, Native Pacific Islander students. l Ability to work independent of supervision. l Strong oral and written communication skills. l Have a working knowledge of career planning, counseling, student development and group dynamics. l Ability to assist, persuade, and motivate students to make appropriate educational/vocational choices and take an active role in assisting the student attain college goals. l Ability to work in a team environment, and copes well under stressful situations. l Possess considerable knowledge of internal and external resources. l Proficiency with spreadsheets, work processing, and other programs using the PC. l CNMI Driver’s license and have own transportation. l Bilingual and representative of a minority population. l Ability to work beyond normal business hours to indicate evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
