| Job Duties: | Plans and provides physical therapy (PT) services to clients in their homes in accordance with the Plan of Care and agency policies and procedures. The PT performs functions which require substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill based upon the principles of psychological, biological, and social services and must be able to make judgments accordingly. Performs PT assessments, diagnostic tests, skilled procedures, and ongoing evaluation for clients who are receiving services under a medically approved Plan of Care. Implements teaching appropriate to the client's needs and within the context of his/her environment and value system. Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the ongoing quality improvement process. Promotes personal safety environment for clients and co-workers. Supervises applicable home care team members. Provide early intervention to infants, toddlers and children with disorders that affect gross motor development and may be a result of pre-maturity, birth complications or musculo-skeletal disorders. Treatment focuses on improving muscle strength, balance, posture, range of motion, and quality of movement. Sessions may include but not limited to: techniques to develop proximal control to enhance distal function such as weight shifting onto a side while reaching for a toy. This works on balance and equilibrium, shoulder stability, and motor control. Improving muscle strength, decreasing muscle tone, lengthening tight myofascial areas are performed in a dynamic position such as prone on elbows (for tight hip flexors, knee flexors, trunk flexors) and reaching objects. Assisting the child through the proper patterns throughout the entire session emphasizes transitioning from different positions such as supine to sit to stand. The more the child experiences these movements the more likely he/she will develop motor program. Other areas focus on during theraphy include gait training, transfer training, behavior management, positioning, handling, self-help skills, and improving quality of life. Performs other related duties and responsibilities and deemed necessary. |

| Qualification Requirements: | ER Preference: Graduate of Physical Therapy program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association, the Committee on Allied Health Education, or the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Physical Therapy Association. Current license/registration as a PT in the state in which practicing. Minimum of two (2) years experience in a health care facility. Home care experience preferred. CPR Certified. Strong verbal and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills. Knowledgeable in the principles and practices of physical therapy. Current driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation. O-Net: Title Job Zone Five: Extensive Preparation Needed Overall Experience Extensive skill, knowledge, and experience are needed for these occupations. Many require more than five years of experience. For example, surgeons must complete four years of college and an additional five to seven years of specialized medical training to be able to do their job. Job Training Employees may need some on-the-job training, but most of these occupations assume that the person will already have the required skills, knowledge, work-related experience, and/or training. Very advanced communication and organizational skills are required. Examples include librarians, lawyers, aerospace engineers, physicists, school psychologists, and surgeons.
