| Job Duties: | Serves food to patrons at counters and tables of coffee shops, lunchrooms, and other dining establishments. Escort customers to their tables. Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service. Inform customers of daily specials. Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods. Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff. Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars. Observes guests to respond to additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed. Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems. Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes. May ladle soup, toss salads, portion pies and desserts, brew coffee, and perform other services as determined by establishment's size and practices. Prepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for patrons, and chill bottles of wine. May clear and reset counters or tables at conclusion of each course.. Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to kitchen for cleaning. Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware. Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee. Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving. Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens. Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers. With pleasing personality, presentable and have good communication skills. Other related duties as maybe assigned. |
