Job Duties: Supervise and coordinate the activities of helpers, laborers, or material movers.Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads. Collaborate with workers and managers to solve work-related problems. Review work throughout the work process and at completion to ensure that it has been performed properly. Transmit and explain work orders to laborers. Check specifications of materials loaded or unloaded against information contained in work orders. Inform designated employees or departments of items loaded and problems encountered. Examine freight to determine loading sequences. Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals. Perform the same work duties as those supervised or perform more difficult or skilled tasks or assist in their performance. Prepare and maintain work records and reports of information such as employee time and wages, daily receipts, and inspection results.Supervisor and coordinates activities of workers engaged in loading and unloading cargo from conveyances such as railroad cars, trucks, and ships,and in moving and storing materials or products: Assigns job tasks to worker according to loading and unloading schedule, and observes loading of conveyances to determine conformance to loading patterns and to prevent shifting or damage to materials or products during transit. Verifies materials or products to storage areas or production departments. Trains new employees in job duties. Performs duties as described under supervisor (any industry) Master title. May schedule sequence of transportation usage, routes of transportation vehicle operations, or movements of materials into and out of storage area. May be designated according to materials handled, work location, or specialization as Bull-Gang supervisor (tobacco); Munitions- Handler Supervisor (ordnance); Platform Supervisor , Loading Case Loading (beverage); Supervisor , loading ( any industry) Supervisor Shipping (bakery products); Supervisor, shipping Room (beverage; Supervisor, Unloading ( any industry). Prepares necessary permit for the following agencies 96 hours vessel arrival. Bureau of Environmental Health Services, Division of Immigration, Division of Public Health, Request for stevedoring Services, Request for Meal Services, Commonwealth of Port Authority, (Clearance) Request for tag services, USCG – notice of arrival, national vessel movement center, international ship security certificate, international oil pollution prevention certificate , Vesel response Plan, Con tenuous synopsis records , Vessel security plan approval letter, documents of compliance, SOLAS certificate. Prepares inventory for empty back load. Knows how to read loading and bay plan of the captain of the vessel for monitoring during loading and unloading. Works along with USCG and consignee on the necessary documents for HAZMAT CARGO. Works with shipping agent to know the volume of container for loading. Knows hoe to prepare CLAIMS REPORT for filing to broker and principal office. Prepares TERMINAL DEPATURE REPORT after vessel departure.
