| Job Duties: | Perform any combination of light cleaning duties to maintain private households or commercial establishments, such as hotels, restaurants, and hospitals, in a clean and orderly manner. Duties include making beds, replenishing linens, cleaning rooms and halls, and vacuuming.Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts.Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met.Empty wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.Replenish supplies, such as drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items.Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.Dust and polish furniture and equipment. Sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaners and shampooers.Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary.Hang draperies and dust window blinds.Direct activities for stopping the spread of infections in facilities such as hospitals.Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards. Plan and prepare employee work schedules. Perform or assist with cleaning duties as necessary.Investigate complaints about service and equipment, and take corrective action.Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner. Check equipment to ensure that it is in working order.Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine the type of work required. Select the most suitable cleaning materials for different types of linens, furniture, flooring, and surfaces.Instruct staff in work policies and procedures, and the use and maintenance of equipment |
