Job Duties: Performs any combination of following duties aboard watercraft, such as dredges, ferryboats, scows, and river boats; Handles line to moor vessel to wharves, tie up vessel to another vessel, or rig towing lines. Sweeps and washes decks, using broom, brushes, mops and firehouse, lower and mans lifeboat in case of emergencies. Stands steering watches and lookout while underway; Paints lifeboats, decks and superstructure or vessel using brush. May tour decks during to watch caution passenger engage unsafe practices, and ensure departure of passenger and end voyage. Deckhand are designated according to type of craft as Barge Hand. May perform other related duties that maybe assigned by the management. O-Net: Maintain government-issued certifications as required. Lower and man lifeboats when emergencies occur. Stand by wheels when ships are on automatic pilot, and verify accuracy of courses, using magnetic compasses. Steer ships under the direction of commanders or navigating officers, or direct helmsmen to steer, following designated courses. Handle lines to moor vessels to wharfs, to tie up vessels to other vessels, or to rig towing lines. Stand watch in ships' bows or bridge wings in order to look for obstructions in a ship's path or to locate navigational aids such as buoys and lighthouses. Stand gangway watches to prevent unauthorized persons from boarding ships while they are in port. Overhaul lifeboats and lifeboat gear, and lower or raise lifeboats with winches or falls. Operate, maintain, and repair ship equipment such as winches, cranes, derricks, and weapons system. Load or unload materials from vessels.

Qualification Requirements: ER Preference: Holder of a Panama Seaman book as General Purpose, Ordinary Seaman or Able-Bodied Seaman and all applicable STCW certificates for High-Speed Passenger Ferries.Previous Maritime experience on passenger vessels in Coastal or Ocean Route service is preferred Had successfully attended and approved “International Safety Management” (ISM) Awareness Seminar. Related Experience Some previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is usually needed. For example, a teller would benefit from experience working directly with the public.
