Job Duties: Carpenter must be able to measure accurately and calculate dimensions, as well as read blueprints. The candidate must possess skills in exterior and interior finish work, including the ability to use specific tools and equipment. This job requires the ability to climb ladders and withstand heights, and to lift heavy objects and carry them limited distances. Good eye-hand coordination is also needed. Must be knowledgeable of policies relating to safety, quality control and cost control. They must be organized and able to complete paperwork on time Constructs, repairs, restores and installs structures such as floors, doors, walls, windows, stairways, furniture, cabinets, shelves, and roofs. Operates and performs preventative maintenance on hand and power saws, planers, lathes, joiners, shapers, drills, sanders and a variety of hand tools. Installs locks, knobs, hinges, closures, and other fixtures to structures. Cleans equipment, shop area, and work site area. Proficient at stain-grade trim work, hanging doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, read blueprints, utilize appropriate math skills.

Qualification Requirements: This position requires a high school diploma and may require some vocational training or job-related course work. Employees in this occupation need two to three years of training involving both on-the-job experience and informal training with experienced workers. Employees in these occupations need anywhere from a few months to one year of working with experienced employees. A recognized apprenticeship program may be associated with these occupations. Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates. Must be able to read blueprints. Skills test may be required.
