Job Duties: Lays-out foundations for buildings and other structures using rule an staked lines. Digs trench for foundation using pick and shovel. Mixes and pours mortar into trench to prepare foundation of setting base stone. Lays building materials such as brick, structural tile, concrete masonry units (hollow blocks) to construct or repair wall, partitions, arches, sewers and other structures. Measures distance from reference points and marks guidelines on working surface to lay-out works. Mixes and spreads soft bed of mortar that serves as base and binder for block. May plaster wall and ceiling, using trowel to complete repair works.
