| Job Duties: | Job Vacancy Announcement Opening Date: August 9, 2011 Closing Date: Until Filled MECHANIC At Power Plant: JVA No. 11-037 ELECTRICIAN At Power Plant: JVA No. 11-038 SENIOR SPECIALIST DUTIES: Under the overall supervision of the deputy director or his/her designee, the incumbent’s duties and responsibilities are as follows. May serve as a crew leader to include assigning and monitoring work and providing technical direction. Prepares training information and materials for an assigned technical training program for trades staff. Performs journey level operations, installations and/or repairs in service area assigned. Inspects equipment and determines if any repairs are needed. Performs preventative maintenance in service area assigned. Maintains level of supplies and equipment. Operates the control room by monitoring fuel consumption and synchronizing feeders; Serves as an auxiliary operator by monitoring lubrication oil, fuel, water and air temperatures and taking readings; Takes readings to ensure temperatures, pressure and tank levels are in normal range; Starts engines; Monitors loads on feeders and generators; Takes midnight readings; Incinerates waste oil; Performs startup operations; Performs minor and major repairs and overhauls on equipment; Reconditions equipment; Fabricates parts; Calibrates equipment, instruments and performs adjustments; Performs SCADA system maintenance; Maintains a clean and orderly workplace. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. SUBJECT TO PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING. LOCATION: ROTA, Northern Mariana Islands, USA. POSITIONS: Minimum of one position per JVA. CONTRACT: Not Contracted. SALARY: $30,000 to $45,000 per annum; un-classified; un-graded. Plus relocation costs to Rota is negotiable if hired from outside of Rota. |

| Qualification Requirements: | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma, or G.E.D., and three years of journey-level experience at the level of a Trades Technician, or comparable level experience related to the area assigned. Completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational school program or having a recognized license in the field of work is preferred. Knowledge of: Principles and procedures of service area assigned; Inspection and troubleshooting principles; Preventative maintenance principles; Inventory control principles. Basic mathematics. Skill in: Mentoring and teaching staff. Monitoring and assigning work to staff; Preparing cost and materials estimates; Performing preventative maintenance; Performing journey level maintenance and installations in service area; Performing site inspections and recognizing problem areas; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and be able to get a CNMI driver’s license upon hire. APPLICANTS MAY BE TESTED. Public Law 17-36 restricts CUC in the hiring foreign national workers. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents, or otherwise eligible to work in the U.S. and specifically the CNMI without needing sponsorship by CUC for a U.S. work visa. |
