Job Duties: Job Vacancy Announcement Job Vacancy No. 12-007 Opening Date: Tuesday, March 13, 2012 Closing Date: Monday, March 19, 2012 Laboratory Technician DUTIES: Under the overall supervision of the division manager or his/her designee, the incumbents duties and responsibilities are as follows: Assists or collects field samples at various stations and checkpoints for water and wastewater operations. Assists or performs routine analysis on samples to ensure samples meet chemistry or microbiological parameters as determined by the EPA. Assists or Mixes media for chemistry titration analysis; calculates chemical reagent standardizations for chemical titration results. Cleans laboratory to include washing glassware and other laboratory materials. Assists in maintaining records of laboratory operations. Responds to customer or complaints from the general public. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. SUBJECT TO PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING. LOCATION: Water Laboratory, SAIPAN. SALARY: $15,139.00 to $23,465.00 per annum, un-classified, un-graded. POSITIONS: One (1) CONTRACT: Not contracted.

Qualification Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, GED or ABE. Higher education and related work experience preferred. Knowledge of: Mathematics; Basic knowledge of chemicals; Safety procedures. Skills in: Collecting samples; Performing routine analysis; Preparing media; Following laboratory procedures; Using computers and related software applications; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
