Job Title: International Cook
Job Duties: Prepare, season, and cook a wide range of international dishes such as soups, meats, vegetables, salads, entrees, and desserts in the Resort. May order supplies, keep records and accounts, price items on menu, or plan menu. *Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices. *Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. *Check and ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock. *Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking. *Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience. *Bake, roast, grill, broil, boil, steam or fry meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods. *Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment. *Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons. *Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils. *Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption. *Garnish, arrange, and serve food. *Cook, hold, and store food or food ingredients. *Perform other duties as needed to meet business needs.

Qualification Requirements: Education: High school diploma, or a graduate from independent and vocational cooking schools, professional culinary institutes, or a college degree in appropriate field or equivalent. Experience: At least 3 years experience in a five-star Hotel, Club, or Resort. Knowledge: Knowledge of various international menu/dishes. Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and harvesting food products (both plant and animal) for consumption, including storage/handling techniques. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Skills: Customer-service skills: International cooks must be able to deal with customer complaints and special requests. Manual dexterity: International cooks should have excellent hand-eye coordination. For example, they need to know the proper knife techniques for cutting, chopping, and dicing. Abilities: Must have the ability to do more sophisticated tasks. Comprehension: International cooks must be able to understand customers’ orders and to read recipes to prepare dishes correctly. Sense of taste and smell: International cooks must have a keen sense of taste and smell to prepare food that customers enjoy.
