| Job Duties: | Nature of the Position: The Database Administrator will manage and support the College's administrative databases and servers, provide end-user support and training, and help develop and implement strategies for increased integration of data systems in order to improve the institution's delivery of services and capacity to collect, analyze, and use information effectively. The successful candidate will work in a diverse multicultural environment under the direction of the Administrative Director of Information Technology (when filled). Duties and Responsibilities: • Participates in Program Review and Outcomes Assessment (PROA) activities • Manage the design, implementation, security, and maintenance of the Enterprise Reporting Systems, Financial Information Systems and other databases to ensure optimal performance and functionality. • Install, upgrade, and configure database applications. • Coordinate database activities (eg. Security upgrades, populating, refreshing, repairing database systems, cataloging, access rights, etc.) to ensure accuracy and availability of data and to monitor compliance with College policies and procedures. • Optimize and tune existing data sources. • Back-up and restore data sources as required. • Provide technical support and assistance to users. • Develop and implement plans/strategies for the integration of data from various sources. • Train faculty and staff on existing applications, new technologies, and best practices for data management. • Analyze and debug technical problems as they are encountered in ongoing projects. • Work as technical liaison to vendors and consultants to solve problems when necessary. • Plan, build, and implement new data-source projects. • Support other technical projects at the College. • Performs other duties as assigned |

| Qualification Requirements: | Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree from a U.S. accredited institution in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science and four (4) years of experience in database administration/end-user support. Desirable Qualifications: • Preferred: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science with two (2) years of experience in database administration/end-user support • Experience with Ellucian Power CAMPUS ERP system, Abilla MIP Fund Accounting and Fixed Assets system is a plus • Familiarity with scripting in a networked environment • Experience with open source implementations • Experience with Microsoft Windows 2008-2013 Server and Microsoft SQL 2008-2013 Server. • Experience in a higher education environment desirable • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects and priorities with minimum supervision • Sensitive to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds of college faculty, staff, and students • Certified Microsoft Database Administrator. Desired Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: • Strong knowledge of relational database design principles, SQL, and MS SQL Server. • Strong knowledge to perform Transact SQL queries in Microsoft SQL 2005. • Working knowledge of XML. • Management of data back up and restoration. • Management of security policies in a complex user environment. • Experience with scripting language(s): Perl or equivalent. • Knowledge of strategies for the sharing and integration of data from disparate sources. • Experience in a heterogeneous data and platform environment. • Experience with web-based application implementation. • Knowledge of or willingness to learn open source database technologies. • Project management experience. |
