| Job Duties: | 1. Prepares insurance assignment form with data such as names of insurance company and policy holder, policy number, and physician diagnosis. 2. Contacts insurance company to verify patient coverage and obtain information concerning extent of benefits. 3. Verify claims with pertinent documents and submit to insurance companies per standard billing procedure. 4. Audit claims prior to submission for completeness on ICD-9 Coding, HHR-G code, visit increment amounts, and total dollar amount of claim. 5. Computes total patient bill showing amounts to be paid by insurance company and by patient. 6. Keep files of all billed claims, and documents in designated filing system for future research. 7. Maintain a follow-up system in a timely manner. 8. Answers patients’ questions regarding billing statements and insurance coverage. 9. Telephones or writes companies with unpaid insurance claims to obtain settlement of claim. 10. Performs job in compliance with agency policies and procedures and professional and community standards. a. Maintains client, employee, and agency confidentiality in all aspects of the job. b. Protects confidential documents in a manner that prevents unauthorized access. c. Shares information appropriately and timely in accordance with agency policy. 11. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as requested by the Administrator, Reimbursement Specialist, and Director of Finance and the following: a. Assist OPT clinic with: i. Dealing with referrals for physical therapy services ii. Schedule patients for OPT iii. Process patients to ensure all necessary documents are collected and signed iv. Scan all referrals and email to all managers (see list) b. Maintain front office lobby c. Assist Home Care in scanning and emailing all Referrals |

| Qualification Requirements: | 1. Associate Degree in Health Field. 2. Minimum of two (2) years billing experience, preferably in health care. 3. Experience in medical and billing regulations for Medicare, Medicaid and insurance processing. 4. Proficient in medical terminology and coding. 5. Computer skills in areas of electronic claim submission and data entry/report generation. 6. Minimum knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices (preferably in the health care field) which entails accounts payable and accounts receivable. 7. Attention to detail and organizational skills. 8. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English language. 9. Strong interpersonal and telephone skills. |
