Job Title: Senior Master Mechanic
Job Duties: Diagnose, repair, overhaul, and replace vehicle engines, transmissions, and all subsystems, on all cars, with particular emphasis on modern Japanese cars and on German-made luxury cars. Manage shop workflow for efficiency and maintain reporting on workflow and in/out schedule. Manage parts needs and parts inventory. Manage customer information. Calculate labor and parts expenses and accurately bill customers. Clean shop every end of workday and repair physical shop facility as needed.

Qualification Requirements: With two years of training involving both on-the-job experience and informal training with experienced workers. A recognized apprenticeship program associated with these occupations doing complete subcomponent-level overhauls of engines and transmissions on passenger vehicles and industrial trucks. Special emphasis on high-end luxury cars (Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Lexus, Land Rover) and on diesel commercial trucks (Isuzu). Need to be fluent in in-depth diagnostics of transmissions and be able to rebuild a transmission from scratch. (Sample task: differential diagnosis of planetary gears vs valve body in a sporadically misbehaving Mercedes W210 transmission.) Need to have in-depth subcomponent-level experience repairing and rebuilding (not only replacing) all components of a modern automobile, including engine blocks, pistons, crankshafts and camshafts, starters, alternators, and suspension, steering, and brake systems. Need to be deeply experienced with setting correct timing on all types of engines, including those without timing markings. Need basic understanding of electrical theory and experience with multimeter-based electrical diagnostics of electrical faults. Need experience with computer-based diagnostics (realtime data monitoring, fuel trim theory... beyond simple error code reading) with proprietary Toyota, Nissan, and Mercedes computer diagnostic systems (beyond simple error codes). Must know high-school-level mathematics. Must be experienced with quickly estimating and invoicing jobs, manage shop workflow for efficiency. Must know hazardous waste management handling and disposal methods and safety methods. Must speak basic English; preferable basic Mandarin Chinese is also helpful for speaking with commercial truck and rental-car clientele.
