Job Title: Assistant Draftsman
Job Duties: Assist in preparing detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures according to specifications provided by architect. Operate computer-aided drafting (CAD) equipment or conventional drafting station to produce designs, working drawings, charts, forms, and records. Analyze or assist in analyzing building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs. Coordinate or assist in coordinating structural, electrical, and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation to graphically represent building plans. Assist in rough drawings and detailed scale plans for foundations, buildings, and structures, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other data. Lay out and plan interior room arrangements for commercial buildings, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.Use computer-aided drafting equipment or conventional drafting stations, technical handbooks, tables, calculators, and traditional drafting tools, such as boards, pencils, protractors, and T-squares. Qualification Requirements: Bachelor's degree or previous work related knowledge with a minimum of three years experience is required. Background in project supervision, or involvement, or able to work under the supervision of an engineer and/or project manager. Knowledgeable with the use of AutoCAD 2014 software version or higher. Able to assist in encoding architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing and civil design. A considerable amount of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed for this occupation. Most occupations in this zone require training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an associate's degree.Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required for these occupations. For example, an electrician must have completed three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training, and often must have passed a licensing exam, in order to perform the job.Employees in these occupations usually need one or two years of training involving both on-the-job experience and informal training with experienced workers.These occupations usually involve using communication and organizational skills to coordinate, supervise, manage, or train others to accomplish goals.
