Job Title: Facilities and Ground Support Mechanic
Job Duties: Summary of duties: Perform work involving maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, vehicles, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs. Specific tasks: • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary. • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment. • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists. • Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery. • Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges. • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment. • Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work. • Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. Qualification Requirements: • High school diploma. College degree preferred. • Must have 2 years of experience in building structure, mechanical equipment, vehicle, and ground support equipment maintenance. • Experience working for a US air carrier as defined in 14 CFR 119 and meets the requirements as specified under 14 CFR 65.101(a)(5)(i) highly preferred. • Must pass a DOT/FAA pre-employment drug test. • Computer literate • Must be willing and able to work a combination of shifts within a 24 hour period (including holidays) as may be required by the company. • Flexibility to travel to Tinian, Saipan, and Rota to provide technical assistance. • Desirable traits: Highly motivated, good attendance record, dependable.Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required for these occupations. For example, an electrician must have completed three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training, and often must have passed a licensing exam, in order to perform the job.Employees in these occupations usually need one or two years of training involving both on-the-job experience and informal training with experienced workers.These occupations usually involve using communication and organizational skills to coordinate, supervise, manage, or train others to accomplish goals
