Job Duties: Collect & analyze information about newsworthy events to write news & stories for publication. Gather & verify factual information regarding story or events through interview, observation, & research. May take photographs to illustrate stories. Organize materials, determine slant or emphasis & write story according to prescribed editorial standards. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualification Requirements: Require a four-year bachelor's degree. A minimum of four years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed. KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media. Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process. Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. The ability to come up with unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem.
