Job Title: Vice President – Taxation (Group Finance)
Job Duties: Tax Performance • Optimize internal processes to simplify tax compliance and reporting efforts • Organize tax team to maximize value while remaining compliant • Rationalize legal entities to ensure we have the optimal structure while being cost effective • Provide guidance on proposed and enacted tax legislation, keeping abreast of tax law changes in the US and foreign jurisdictions to identify potential planning opportunities or issues. • Manage a performance enhancement culture by actively coaching and mentoring direct reports and broader staff, providing feedback and developing and growing employees. Compliance • Ensure all required returns, reports, and payments are timely filed and appropriately documented. • Ensure accurate and timely filing of US and Saipan tax returns for foreign entities. • Determine proper treatment and documentation of transactions in the US, Saipan and International tax returns. • Ensure all cross-border transactions and transfer pricing issues are properly documented and supported for tax filing purposes Audits • Oversee all audits and approve any settlements; monitor status of foreign audits and provide support for cross-border issues. • Provide advice to global subsidiaries in resolving tax controversies. • Provide information on international operations in US and Saipan tax audits. Research and Planning • Develop appropriate tax planning initiatives/strategies and recommendations. • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to reduce tax cost for all types of tax including but not limited to income, franchise, gross receipts, gross profits, excise, ad valorem, sales and use. • Provide analysis of the tax impact of proposed transactions and develop tax efficient approaches for each transaction. • Determine the most tax efficient global organizational structures. • Analyze and make recommendations on tax efficient cash repatriation strategies. Accounting for Income Taxes • Ensure GAAP based calculation for tax expense and liabilities are accurate and comply with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC and related external financial reports. • Ensure accurate calculation and reporting of tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures. • Identify tax exposures and determine proper GAAP accounting and balance sheet amounts. • Ensure US and Saipan taxes on international operations are adequately provided for in current and projected financial statements
High School Diploma Required? Undetermined
Qualification Requirements: • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance required and/or CPA required. • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a hospitality industry and/or public accounting firm ideally with international experience in all aspects of taxation, as well as significant management experience. • Thorough knowledge of US, Saipan and international taxation. • Knowledge of internal control systems. • Understanding of transfer pricing principles which govern cross-border transactions. • Ability to quickly assess impacts of transactions in multiple tax jurisdictions. • Ability to utilize tax technical knowledge and skills to quickly and accurately analyze proposed and actual transactions for tax and business issues. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to think and act proactively and strategically concerning tax matters. • Excellent interpersonal and partnering skills with proven ability to educate and motivate direct reports to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness. • Proficient with computerized tax research software.
