Job Title: Food Server Counter Attendant
Job Duties: Serve food, beverages, or desserts to customers in such settings as take-out counters of restaurants or lunchrooms, business or industrial establishments, hotel rooms, and cars. Serve food or beverages. Prepare bills for food, using cash registers, calculators, or adding machines, and accept payment or make change. Operate cash registers. Process customer bills or payments. Take customers' orders and write ordered items on tickets, giving ticket stubs to customers when needed to identify filled orders. Take customer orders. Cook food or prepare food items, such as sandwiches, salads, and ice cream dishes, using standard formulas or following directions. Cook foods. Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes, to keep equipment and facilities sanitary. Clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment. Balance receipts and payments in cash registers. Balance receipts. Order items needed to replenish supplies. Order materials, supplies, or equipment. Wrap menu item such as sandwiches, hot entrees, and desserts for serving or for takeout. Package food or supplies. Qualification Requirements: Food service counter attendants, food preparers and kitchen helpers work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Hours tend to be irregular but flexible and split shifts are common. Food service counter attendants and food preparers typically stand for long periods of time and often carry heavy trays. They work in kitchens that are hot, humid, fast-paced and can be greasy and noisy. Food safety training and customer service experience on-the-job training under the supervision of other experienced workers. Food Handler Certificate is a required. FOODSAFE covers food safety information, food borne, receiving and storing food, preparing food, serving food, cleaning and sanitizing. Applicants must be energetic, efficient, able to multi-task, able to work quickly, able to remember customer orders, excellent customer service skills basic mathematics and arithmetic skills.
