Job Duties: | This position reports to the Executive Director/Project Manager.bIt is a full-time position that requires supervisorial and team-building skills, Chamorro and Carolinian cultural knowledge, hands-on workshop experience and a demonstrated long-term interest in traditional maritime practices. The Senior Sakman Leader: •Provides assistance to the Project Director in the execution of his/her responsibilities •Supervises Sakman Leaders •Project management of the preparation and opening of the canoe house (with Project Director) •Developing detailed build plans and blueprints of traditional canoes (with Project Director •Provisioning of tools and materials for proa construction (with Project Director) •Recruiting and hiring operational staff, including Sakman Leaders (with Project Director) •Participate in the design and implementation of inventory tracking (with Project Director) •Develop and implement workplace safety for Sakman Leaders (with Senior Sakman Leader) •Assist with year-end program evaluation plan |

Qualification Requirements: | 500 Sails is a cultural restoration project to bring back the indigenous sailing traditions of the Marianas islands, both Chamorro and Carolinian. -You must be passionate about the mission and love the water. -You must have experience working with your hands. -You must be comfortable teaching others and engaging with the community. -You must be reliable. -If you don't know how to swim, you need to be willing to learn, and possibly teach. - It helps if you have a sense of humor. |
